Radiology, Neuroradiology and Nuclear Medicine

Speech recognition technology was first introduced in Radiology departments in 1993, for the very first time, in Italy. It is only in recent years that it has improved to the point of becoming usable in other areas of healthcare.

The heart of a voice recognition system is the engine that uses acoustic and linguistic models for transcribing audio in real time.

The first objective for the introduction of a voice recognition system in radiology is the reduction of the production time of the report (report turnaround time), or the time interval between the execution of the examination and the availability of the report in the archive .

The release time is reduced - for the most urgent situations the report is available in real time - with consequent advance of the eventual treatment, contributing to the reduction of hospitalization time.
